Petitions

Petitions are an important part of our democratic system to show our Parliamentary Representatives the extent of Community opposition to the Energex proposal.

VETO Petitions and previous petitions are provided on this page.

2011 Petitions

VETO prepared two petitions for signing by supporters.

These two petitions were prepared to represent the issues relating to two of the four Electorates affected by the Energex proposal to construct the high voltage powerline along the Logan River, through Logan Village and through the Camp Cable Koala Corridor.

This petition represents the issues relating to the Electorate of Logan and was sponsored by Hon John Mickel MP member for Logan. It is similar to the earlier petition of 2,000 signatures sponsored by Hon Margaret Keech MP member for Albert.

Previous Petition (Tabled 26 Oct'10)

VETO's paper petition with ~ 2,000 signatures of Citizens and Residents of Queensland was tabled in the Queensland House of Representatives on 26 October 2010. This petition called on the Speaker & House of Representatives to direct Energex not to proceed with plans to construct an overhead high-voltage (110kV) powerline from Loganlea to Jimboomba substations along the Logan River precinct and Camp Cable Road in response to community concerns that the powerline will cause:

  • Environmental damage
  • Loss of community amenity
  • Potential health risks to the community
  • Adverse impact on property values
